Mammography Technologist

Under general supervision of Manager of Breast Imaging, the Mammography technologist provides Mammographic technical skills to the Department mission. Duties are to work as technologist and duties in other areas and/or modalities as necessary. The Mammography technologist performs mammography exams for use of diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing all other Radiology/Mammography exams either added as new or currently in place as required
  • Maintaining radiology/mammography safety for personnel and patients
  • Having a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology
  • Keeping protocols current and state-of-the-art, working through radiologist and staff to develop and improve protocols
  • Communicating procedures, concerns, and delays to patients at all times
  • Maximizing patient flow through both Radiology/Mammography schedule and new program initiatives
  • Utilizing schedule logs to keep patients informed of procedures and delays
  • Entering all pertinent Radiology/Mammography patient information into Information System as required
  • Maximizing codes and reimbursement issues within Radiology/mammography via code updates, changes, and knowledge base
  • Understanding and implementing all updated managed care criteria for reimbursement and billing protocols
  • Communicating with service vendors regarding service and equipment related issues
  • Ensuring call ins are timely, efficient, qualitative, and complete
  • Updating and developing as necessary, the most appropriate radiology/mammography protocols to maintain department requirements for clinical and research purposes
  • Requiring knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and mammography and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment to include mammography
  • Generally acquired through the completion of two years post-high school training in an approved school of Radiologic technology. MSRT/ARRT (M) required
  • The Mammographer requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and all/any apprehensions, to instruct students, and to provide technical supervision to staff technologists

Compensation Range:

$51.32- $76.26

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
