Job Overview
Under the general supervision of the Manager of Breast Imaging, the Mammography Technician provides essential mammographic technical skills to support the department’s mission. The technician performs mammography exams for the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury in patients of all ages, and may also perform other radiology/mammography exams as required.
Responsibilities
- Perform mammography and other radiology/mammography examinations.
- Maintain radiation safety standards for personnel and patients.
- Apply thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Keep protocols current and state‑of‑the‑art, working with radiologists and staff to develop and improve them.
- Communicate procedures, concerns, and delays to patients at all times.
- Maximize patient flow by managing the radiology/mammography schedule and new program initiatives.
- Use schedule logs to keep patients informed of procedures and delays.
- Enter all pertinent patient information into the information system.
- Optimize coding and reimbursement through code updates, changes, and knowledge base.
- Implement updated managed‑care criteria for reimbursement and billing protocols.
- Communicate with service vendors regarding service and equipment issues.
- Ensure call‑ins are timely, efficient, qualitative, and complete.
- Update and develop protocols to meet clinical and research requirements.
- Provide technical supervision to staff technologists and instruct students.
Qualifications
- Completion of a two‑year post‑high‑school program in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- MSRT/ARRT (M) certification or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
- Knowledge of diagnostic radiology principles, mammography, and operation and maintenance of radiologic equipment.
Compensation
Compensation Range: $51.32–$76.26. Additional total compensation includes benefits (medical, dental, vision, pharmacy), contract increases, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) savings matches, earned time cash out, paid time off, career advancement opportunities, and resources to support employee and family wellbeing.
