Mammography Technologist, 32Hr-MSHAR

Overview

UMass Memorial Health Mammography position. Exemption Status: Non-Exempt. Hiring Range: $35.94 - $58.96. Schedule Details: Friday, Thursday, Tuesday. Scheduled Hours: 7:30ap. Shift: Day Shift, 8 Hours. Hours: 24. Cost Center: 10021 - 3580 Mammography. Union: SHARE Marlborough. Signing bonus eligibility may be confirmed during the interview process.

Major Responsibilities

1. Operates Mammography equipment and performs Mammography exams; assesses patient size, age, or condition and adjusts imaging procedures using universal protocol and sterile techniques as necessary. Demonstrates breast self-examination if required.
2. Records pertinent breast history and notes any discomfort or medical concerns important to the Radiologist.
3. Adheres to departmental policies and safety controls; documents work in HIS/RIS/PACS and PEN RAD systems.
4. Assists in other areas or modalities as needed.
5. Cleans and maintains all accessory equipment and work area.
6. Maintains knowledge of developments in Mammography and completes continuing education; responsible for Quality Control as designated by the supervisor.

7. Performs other duties as required or directed.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

• Registration in both Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a Mammography Technologist.
• BLS healthcare provider certification before completion of a 90-day probationary period.

Experience/Skills

• Required: Level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.
• Preferred: Prior experience in the field.
• Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

On-the-job time spent in the following physical activities: Stand, Walk, Sit, Talk or hear, Use hands to finger, handle, or feel, Push/pull, Stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl, Reach with hands and arms. Weight lifted up to 10 pounds (2/3 time) and up to 25 pounds (1/3 time). Work near moving mechanical parts (2/3 time).
