Head Start Maintenance WorkerSelf Help Inc. is currently looking for a Head Start Maintenance Worker to join our team.Self Help, Inc. is a nonprofit Community Action Agency (CAA) created to help families and individuals stabilize and secure their lives through education, strategic assistance, and building opportunities in their communities.

We provide a range of services for families and households across Southeastern Massachusetts.Job SummaryThe Head Start Maintenance Worker is responsible for ensuring the safe, clean, and well-maintained condition of Head Start facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position performs a variety of maintenance tasks to support a healthy and functional learning environment for preschool children and staff, adhering to Head Start Performance Standards, safety regulations, and agency policies.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance and minor repairs to buildings, including but not limited to:Carpentry (minor repairs to doors, windows, walls, furniture)Plumbing (unclogging drains, fixing minor leaks)Electrical (replacing light bulbs, resetting breakers)Painting (touch-ups, small painting projects)Flooring (minor repairs to tiles, carpets)Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of building interiors, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. This may involve sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removalMaintain the exterior grounds, including but not limited to:Lawn care (mowing, trimming, weeding as needed)Snow removal and ice control on walkways and parking areas, ensuring safety for children and staff.Inspecting and testing all snow removing equipment's.Prepare all snow removing equipment before snow falling or storm.Maintenance personnel are on call doing winter season.Maintaining playground safety by inspecting equipment and performing minor repairsGeneral tidiness of outdoor areas, including trash and debris removalPerform routine maintenance and minor repairs on program equipment, such as furniture, appliances, and playground structuresEnsure equipment is safe and working orderReport any major equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the supervisorAssist with the setup and breakdown of equipment for events and activitiesAdhere to all safety regulations, Head Start Performance Standards related to facility maintenance, and agency policies and proceduresCommunicate effectively with Center Directors, staff, and supervisors regarding maintenance needs and completed workRespond promptly to maintenance requestsOther Requirements/CertificationsMust pass a criminal background check and other required clearancesValid Massachusetts driver's license and reliable transportation (may be required for travel between sites)Must maintain EEC required certification for cleaning of bodily fluidsMust maintain Bobcat skid Steer Operator training CertificateOSHA Certification* Self Help Inc.
