Maintenance Technician IIIEmployee works for the Shop Manager. Works in maintenance, inspection and repair of nursery, farm equipment and farming irrigation systems. Capable of completing assigned tasks independently as well as with other mechanics. Fully supports equipment and repairs during season.
Any other tasks assigned by management.Here's what you'll do:Use safe practices and principles working around equipment and machineryTroubleshooting, repair, installation and assessments of mechanical equipment such as pumps, valves, fittings, gearboxes, switches, gauges and lubrication controls.Perform repairs by adjusting, cleaning and replacing worn or damaged partsPerform preventative maintenance on panels, motors and pumpsRepair and replace irrigation pipes, valves, fittings, etc.Maintain a clean and safe work areaHands-on shop & in-field assembling, inspections, cleaning, documentation, adjustments, & replacements of various irrigation pump & motor mechanical equipment.Occasional welding, cutting, grinding, arc gouging and plasma cuttingPerform preventive maintenance on panels, motors and pumps in the nursery and field. Report corrective actions as needed.Perform live/dead test on electrical circuitsInventory managementAny other tasks or responsibilities assigned by managementHere's what you'll bring to the table:Ability to work alone without close supervision in remote areasBe able to lift 50 lbs on a continuous basis and 100 lbs on occasion.Be able to do continuous bending, stooping, and walking on a daily basis.Must possess a valid California driver's license.Have adequate leadership and communication skills to direct, schedule and coordinate personnel and services.Ability to effectively communicate in EnglishBilingual desiredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferredWorks effectively individually and as part of a team to complete goals and tasksProficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.Ability to reason and communicate with management to understand priorities and balance workload and jobs assignedExperience with maintenance management software, various irrigation/fertigation systems, and Argus is preferred.Advanced welding, cutting, grinding, arc gouging and plasma cutting skillsAdvanced Hydraulic system maintenance and repairAdvanced 12-24v electrical system knowledgeAdvanced AC/DC electrical diagnostic skills requiredAdvanced knowledge of HVAC maintenance and repairHigh school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred5+ years of experience in a maintenance related fieldExperience using a variety of hand and power tools, both electric and pneumatic.The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; bend; twist; kneel; climb; reach with hands and arms above and below shoulders.Must be able to lift independently 50 pounds frequently, with assistance 100 pounds occasionallyOPTIONAL PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICSNSES:Commercial Driver's LicenseOpacity Test CertificationIndustrial electrical educationWelding CertificationMAC or ASC HVAC Recovery CertificateHydraulicsManufacture Sponsored Advanced Repair/Maintenance trainingFLEET/SHOP ASSITANT.CMRP – Certified Maintenance ProfessionalCMT – Certified maintenance TechnicianPreferred other certificates: Opacity, Welding, Electrician, Manufacture Sponsored Repair/Maintenance training, etcMust be 18 years of age or olderPay Rate: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour.
