Maintenance Tech 1The Maintenance Tech 1 works mainly outdoors at BREC parks and facilities. Performs general maintenance duties as assigned operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment such as riding mowers, tractors with various attachments, aerifiers, blowers, pressure washer, powered hand tools, and other related maintenance equipment required. May be required to drive pickup truck and trailer.Requirements and Job SpecificationsEducation Required: No formal education required.
Must read & write the English Language to receive work instructions.License(s) Required: Valid LA driver's license.Years Relevant Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year relevant experience in grounds maintenance involving manual labor. Equivalent combination of education & experience will be considered.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of basic principles and practices of operating a variety of grounds maintenance equipment and toolsSkill in use of operation of hand tools and a variety of commercial type equipment involved in grounds maintenance.Basic mechanical ability.Must have a positive attitude with the willingness and desire to learn new skillsAbility to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or prioritiesAbility to perform manual and skilled labor in various weather conditionsAbility to lift up to 100 lbs., occasionallyAbility to follow simple oral & written instructionsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with othersFunctions and DutiesEssential Functions and Duties:Operates variety of commercial type equipment including, but not limited to; riding mowers, trucks, trailers, tractors with various attachments, aerifiers, blowers, pressure washer, powered hand tools, and other related maintenance equipment in order to maintain parks, athletic fields, and other facilities.Repairs and maintains playground equipment, athletic field maintenance and set-up, and performs other repairs as directed.Levels park surfaces, digs/fills ditches, loads dirt/sand/gravel/brush/debris and other materials onto trucks.Cut/load/remove tree limbs.Drives trucks and trailers loaded with equipment from site to site.Assists trades staff with specialized repairs as directed.All other duties as assigned.This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
