We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead and coordinate maintenance operations within a manufacturing facility in Mecklenburg County, NC. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for a hands-on maintenance leader with strong mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls knowledge who can effectively lead a team while driving equipment reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:00 PM
Pay: $38.46–$43.27/hour (approximately $80,000–$90,000 annually) with annual & quarterly bonus eligibility based on performance
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee maintenance personnel, equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, work orders, contractors, spare-parts inventory, and maintenance-related projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise maintenance technicians, including daily work assignments, coaching, training, performance evaluations, and employee development.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support while promoting safe and effective maintenance practices.
- Review employee timekeeping records, make necessary corrections, and approve timesheets weekly.
- Manage third-party contractors performing maintenance and facility-related work.
- Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment and facilities to identify maintenance needs, reliability concerns, and potential safety issues.
- Develop, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders, maintenance activities, equipment history, and related documentation.
- Prioritize maintenance activities and communicate work order status with maintenance personnel, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
- Troubleshoot and support repairs involving mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Identify and implement equipment, maintenance, and process improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Establish and periodically review standard maintenance procedures and work practices.
- Evaluate technical training needs and support ongoing skill development for maintenance personnel.
- Monitor maintenance expenses and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and resource utilization.
- Maintain appropriate spare-parts and supply inventory to support timely equipment repairs and minimize downtime.
- Build and maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers, contractors, and local suppliers.
- Respond to urgent equipment and facility issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Support 5S, Lean Manufacturing, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable company policies, quality standards, OSHA requirements, and facility procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of related maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably within a chemical manufacturing or processing environment.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or maintenance team coordination experience strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls troubleshooting skills.
- Intermediate knowledge of pipe fitting, welding, carpentry, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Working knowledge of building codes, electrical codes, and OSHA regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
- Knowledge of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience utilizing a CMMS or similar maintenance management software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, technical documentation, and maintenance instructions.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in a related technical or engineering discipline.
- Supervisory experience within chemical manufacturing, processing, industrial manufacturing, or a similar environment.
- Experience developing or improving preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
