Maintenance MechanicThis role leads the maintenance department for facilities and processing equipment, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all machinery and systems. You will supervise maintenance staff, drive preventative and corrective maintenance programs, manage capital and installation projects, and uphold standardized processes that support continuous improvement in a food manufacturing environment.Supervise and direct daily activities of employees in the maintenance department for both facilities and processing equipment.Lead the team in establishing, improving, and executing equipment maintenance processes, including preventative inspections, corrective repairs, and overhaul planning and execution.Oversee maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment in the facility and on processing lines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.Lead project teams to perform successful installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines.Oversee dismantling, repair, and reassembly of machinery and equipment used in production processes.Manage the implementation and enforcement of department standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure standardized work practices.Monitor the use and inventory levels of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment, and initiate reordering when necessary to prevent downtime.Inspect and audit completed maintenance work to ensure conformance to standards and compliance with procedures, and recommend improvements where needed.Implement and oversee the Preventative Maintenance program and work order system, ensuring all personnel follow established guidelines.Manage capital projects, including new production lines, process design improvements, and equipment innovations.Create and maintain a productive and safe work environment by implementing and sustaining all company-required safety training and assessments.Provide leadership, coaching, and development to maintenance team members to help them achieve performance objectives and grow their technical skills.At least 1 year of maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or packaging environment (preferred). Strong technical understanding of production equipment and maintenance operations, including troubleshooting skills. Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
Experience with preventative maintenance and repair programs for industrial equipment. Electrical and PLC knowledge, including PLC troubleshooting. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation. Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Excel and Word. Strong verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with team members and other departments. Ability to work under tight timelines while maintaining high-quality results. The environment is generally moderate in temperature—not too cold and not too hot—and the air carries food aromas such as dumplings and soy sauce throughout the plant. Certain areas can be loud due to operating machinery, and appropriate hearing protection may be required depending on the work area. You will work around production and processing equipment, refrigeration systems, and other industrial machinery, following strict safety and cleanliness standards typical of food manufacturing operations.This is a Contract position based out of Gilroy, CA.
