Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Job Description

This role focuses on troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations within a food manufacturing environment. The maintenance engineer also supports construction and fabrication projects and installs new equipment throughout the facility.

Responsibilities

    n
  • n

    Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical failures on industrial equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

    n

  • n

    Perform routine and corrective maintenance on facility equipment, including motors, controls, and other mechanical and electrical components.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Install new equipment within the facility, including wiring for controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs), in accordance with safety and quality standards.

  • n

    Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to guide installation, maintenance, and repair activities.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Diagnose and resolve issues related to electrical systems, PLCs, and other electronic devices used in the facility.

  • n

    Maintain and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems to ensure reliable operation of production equipment.

  • n

    Support construction and fabrication work as needed, including assisting with layout, assembly, and installation of equipment and structures.

    Troubleshoot and service HVAC equipment and assist with repair and maintenance of forklifts as required.

    Use welding and related fabrication techniques, when needed, to repair or modify equipment and components.

    Follow all facility protocols and sanitation procedures to maintain a clean and safe food manufacturing environment.

    Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and issues to relevant stakeholders to support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

    At least 1 year of experience performing mechanical troubleshooting on industrial equipment.

    n

  • n

    At least 1 year of experience working within an industrial maintenance setting.

    n
  • n
  • n

    At least 1 year of experience performing wiring for controls and variable frequency drives (VFDs).

    n
  • n
  • n

    At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.

    n
  • n
  • n

    Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting in an industrial environment.

  • n

    Experience with PLC troubleshooting and working with electronic control systems.

  • n

    Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • n

    Experience working with motors and motor control systems.

    Ability to use welding techniques for maintenance and repair tasks.

Work Environment

n

This role is based in a food manufacturing facility that is very clean and operates under strict daily protocols to maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety. The facility provides a comfortable climate, remaining warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The position follows a structured schedule on 1st shift, typically working 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Fridays, supporting consistent and predictable working hours within a production environment that relies on industrial equipment and modern control systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
