Maintenance Electrician / Maintenance Mechanic
This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and production equipment in a manufacturing environment. You will work on complex circuits, automatic and process controls, and secondary power distribution systems while performing both corrective and preventive maintenance to keep machinery operating safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment, including automatic and process controls, switchboards, control panels, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic control systems.
- Plan and lay out wiring for complex circuits and equipment installations that involve multiple connections and components.
- Set up and maintain secondary distribution systems, ensuring effective load balancing and reliable power distribution across equipment and production areas.
- Diagnose electrical issues and system malfunctions, identify root causes, and replace or repair defective components such as control modules and other electrical parts.
- Perform testing, calibration, and system adjustments to verify proper operation and ensure electrical systems meet performance and safety standards.
- Carry out general maintenance and preventive maintenance on production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Rebuild, upgrade, and modify machinery and equipment to improve performance, reliability, and safety.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation, troubleshooting, and repair work.
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems and related automation equipment to resolve electrical and mechanical issues.
- Apply and follow NEC codes and protocols in all electrical installation, maintenance, and repair activities to maintain compliance and safe working conditions.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to schedule maintenance, support equipment changes, and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and upgrades to maintain accurate records and support continuous improvement.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing issues with automatic and process controls, switchboards, control panels, relays, circuit breakers, and electronic control systems.
- Ability to plan and lay out wiring for complex circuits and equipment installations with multiple connections.
- Experience setting up and maintaining secondary power distribution systems, including load balancing and power distribution.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to perform general and preventive maintenance on production equipment.
- Experience rebuilding and upgrading machinery and equipment to improve performance and reliability.
- Knowledge of and adherence to NEC codes and electrical safety protocols.
- Practical skills in PLC troubleshooting and working with PLC-controlled systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and around production equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance is highly beneficial.
- Experience with PLC programming is a plus.
- Familiarity with automation and process control systems in industrial settings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in production and engineering.
- Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability and safety.

Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production machinery, electrical systems, and automated equipment. You will spend most of your time on the shop floor performing installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
