The pay rate is $26.87. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week. This position is in person, located on the UMN Crookston Campus, and represented by the Teamsters Bargaining Unit.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time, 12-month position starting at $26.87 per hour working in the Department of Facilities and Operations. This position reports to the Operations Supervisor. Must be willing to work holidays and overtime when necessary. This position is represented by the Teamsters Local 320 Bargaining Unit.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for performing general carpentry work (both rough & finish) on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. (These examples do not include all possible responsibilities in this work and do not limit the assignment of related responsibilities):
- Repairs and constructs office furniture and fixtures, including cabinets, counters, shelves, tables, and desks.
- Erecting of wooden building frames, the making and installation of exterior and interior trim, doors, windows, stairways, the laying of floors, cabinet making, and other interior finishing work.
- Remodels and repairs farm structures such as barns, hog sheds, and temporary animal housings.
- Constructs concrete forms.
- Shingles and repairs slate, wood, and asphalt shingle roofs.
- Erects scaffolds.
- Replaces broken or worn door locks.
- Lays linoleum and cements celetox ceiling blocks.
- Repairs and makes screens.
- Inspects doors, windows, doorchecks, shades, floors, ceilings, steps, ladders, and Venetian blinds for needed repair and makes necessary repairs.
- Perform a full variety of other maintenance duties.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of vocational school in carpentry and three (3) years of journeyman carpentry experience.
- Journey-level work experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
