Maintenance AssistantThe maintenance assistant will be responsible for various tasks related to maintaining and repairing buildings and grounds, equipment, and appliances. Essential functions include maintaining a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

The role involves checking work and ensuring quality, contributing to team effort by working with others and accomplishing related functions as needed. The maintenance assistant will review work order priorities daily and ensure that they are serviced each day. They will perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and repairing doors/windows, handle basic plumbing issues, change oil in company vehicles, ensure that facility grounds and parking lots are clean of debris and garbage, inspect buildings and grounds, complete any task assigned by the supervisor as needed, comply with government regulations, laws, company policies, and company procedures, and work overtime as necessary. On-call duties may also be required. The maintenance assistant will use hand tools as required, operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as required, charge time accurately in the time and attendance system on the computer to ensure accurate labor distribution and payroll, follow manufacturing instructions, work independently without constant supervision, be self-motivated, and complete job assignments on time. They will care for tools and equipment, advise maintenance of equipment that is not working correctly, and clean the work area as required.Desired qualifications include a high school level of education, effective communications skills, good listening skills, ability to read and comprehend drawings and written instructions, basic mathematical skills, self-motivation, effective problem-solving skills, good people skills to work in teams with others in the organization. The maintenance assistant must be able to accurately receive and understand instructions from supervisor/lead to determine if further instruction is required before attempting to complete the task assigned. They must be able to work with all employees of the RAE team and show a spirit of cooperation with others in the organization.The work is performed in an industrial production area for a manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. The employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. They are exposed to extreme temperatures in both winter and summer, possible stress caused by the pressure of meeting deadlines and product quality standards. The noise level in the work environment is high in some areas. Seasonal variations in hours worked based on production demands. Tools and equipment used include hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, screw gun, drill press, forklift, scissor lift, boom lift, overhead (bridge) crane, ladders, glasses, gloves, and computer earplugs (when required).
