Mainframe Technical Lead — VSE-to-z/OS Migration
Location: DFW, Texas
Duration: 12-month contract
Travel: Occasional travel to Dallas/McKinney
ITCAPS is seeking a senior Mainframe Technical Lead for a major legacy modernization program. This is a client-facing leadership role focused specifically on migrating IBM mainframe workloads from VSE 6.2 to z/OS 3.2 .
Direct VSE-to-z/OS migration experience is mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical coordination throughout the VSE-to-z/OS migration
- Serve as the liaison between the client, Unisys, and the delivery partner
- Guide technical discussions, issue resolution, and migration planning
- Track migration progress and provide clear status updates
- Support the modernization of legacy applications and workloads
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and required decisions
Required Experience
- Strong IBM mainframe background across VSE and z/OS
- Experience migrating from VSE 6.2 to z/OS 3.2
- Working knowledge of Easytrieve, JCL, COBOL, RPG, and Assembler
- Legacy application modernization and migration experience
- Strong client-facing communication and technical leadership skills
- Ability to coordinate across multiple technical and delivery teams
