Mainframe Systems EngineerProvides overall engineering guidance and support for the Mainframe department. In this role the engineer works closely with mainframe teams to maintain and enhance mainframe tools, platforms, and operating systems.
The role is responsible for managing and executing software releases and maintaining the release process; troubleshooting issues in response to application team incidents and working with external vendors and partners to provide software upgrades, network connectivity, and data exchange.Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:Install, maintain, and customize the mainframe OSManage and update other software tools that support Mainframe teamsInstall, coordinate, and track SSL certificatesProvide support for Ivory Server for z/OS: coordinate with third party providers for upgrades, deployments into production, troubleshooting and support.Support custom applications: OPDOC and JOBDOC, using, when necessary, the following tools CLIST ISPF Dialog Manager Cobol Assembler (minimal)Support and maintain releases processes across all environments, including standalone testing environments. Perform CICS new copies as needed.Support Panvalet and restore members when requestedCheck MQ queue levels and definitions when requestedRestore datasets when requestedWrite/run SAS reports against SMF health check data for things like dataset updates, deletes, numbers of jobs, etc.Assist in keeping the mainframe manual library up to date and managing the library web site.Help to maintain MVS website consisting of a repository of manuals.
