Mainframe Engineer

Required Technical Skills

• In-depth hands-on experience with IBM z/OS installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades.

• Strong experience with IBM Z mainframe hardware, CPC, LPAR, HMC/SE, IOCDS, IODF, FICON, OSA, and Coupling Facility.

• Expertise in installing, configuring, and supporting ISV products from Broadcom/CA, BMC, IBM, and Rocket Software.

• Experience with IBM PTFs, APARs, SMP/E, and system maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of z/OS performance monitoring using RMF, SMF, TMON, and SAS.

• Experience with WLM, JES, SYSRES, and critical system datasets.

• Familiarity with OPS/MVS, System Automation, Automation Point, and ZEKE Scheduler.

• Experience with GDPS, disaster recovery, IPL testing, and replication technologies.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and execute z/OS installations, upgrades, maintenance, and migrations.

• Manage IBM Z hardware configurations, LPARs, HMC, IOCDS/IODF, and connectivity.

• Install, upgrade, and maintain third-party ISV products.

• Apply PTFs and APARs and troubleshoot complex system issues.

• Monitor and optimize z/OS performance, resource utilization, and WLM.

• Perform system diagnostics using logs, dumps, SYSOUT, RMF, and SMF.

• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.

• Collaborate with IBM and ISV vendors for technical support and issue resolution.

• Provide 24/7 production support through an on-call rotation.
