About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer with strong hands-on coding expertise to join a team of performance-driven professionals focused on building and supporting enterprise applications. This role requires a deep understanding of mainframe technologies, software development best practices, and problem-solving capabilities.

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

The selection process includes technical assessments and onsite interviews. Candidates advancing in the hiring process will be required to attend an onsite interview.


Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of business processes and application requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide support for existing products and services.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to implement new projects and enhancements.
  • Perform analysis, programming, testing, and debugging activities.
  • Assist with business requirements gathering, application design, system architecture, and development efforts.
  • Maintain and enhance legacy applications developed in Micro Focus COBOL, COBOL, and CICS that interact with enterprise information systems.
  • Develop, test, and maintain solutions across front-end, middle-tier, and back-end environments.
  • Apply software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices throughout project execution.
  • Evaluate potential solutions by assessing costs, benefits, and technical considerations.
  • Adhere to established standards, methodologies, processes, and development guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Most recent experience within the last year developing applications in COBOL.
  • Strong hands-on development experience with COBOL and CICS (required).
  • Experience with SQL and DB2, including:
  • Writing queries in QMF
  • Accessing DB2 through application programs
  • Creating and managing database tables
  • Experience with JCL (Job Control Language) and job scheduling.
  • Experience working with IBM Mainframe (z/OS) environments.
  • Experience using TSO.
  • Knowledge of all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Visual Studio for source control.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Experience programming in C# in addition to COBOL.
  • Experience with Web Services and Windows Services.
  • Experience creating and maintaining SSRS reports.
  • Two or more years of experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Experience with mainframe modernization or migration initiatives, including re-hosting or re-platforming projects.
