Sustaining a leadership position requires us to build a team of highly talented, dedicated, and driven individuals.This is a journey-level Machinist position requiring the machinist to calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut. This position requires union membership after 30 days of hire.Salary: $43.41-$43.41 per hourResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibility for safety in all areas of the assigned duties, to ensure safety rules and regulations are met due to the use of high-speed industrial mechanical toolsSetting up and operating a variety of manufacturing machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
Parts will be made from blueprints, shop sketches and verbal instructions, so the ability to interpret drawings and sketches is necessaryMake and repair tools, fixtures, gauges, templates, dies, machine parts and instrument panels to precision tolerances using conventional machinesFrequently require overhaul work in a factory settingCalculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipersAligning and securing holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machinesSelecting the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of manufacturing machinery workMachining parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grindersJob RequirementsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesA strong mechanical aptitude is requiredAbility to work under time pressures and flexibility to adjust to sudden work patterns or schedulesBackground in routine maintenanceBackground in safety compliance – particularly Lock-out/Tag-out proceduresCandidates are expected to have positive attitude and work in a team environmentMachinist are expected to have a safety-first mentality and maintain a commendable attendance recordDesign techniques, tools and principals involved in production planning, blueprints, drawings and modelsDetermining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a jobMechanical troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of gauges, micrometers and calipersKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenanceMust also be able to use measuring devices accuratelyMust be able to comply with all OSHA and WISHA safety rules and regulationsMust be able to stand for long periods of time as well as work on elevated stationary platformsSupply his/her own tools and maintain them at the plantMust be able to work independently, with teams and have good interpersonal skillsQualification Requirements:To qualify, you must currently be a journey level Machinist.At least five (5) years of current Journey-level machinist experienceHigh School diploma or GED; certificate or diploma from a trade school a plusFive (5) years of experience using conventional machining of large parts, experience using machine equipment (lathes, mills, & balance machines)Crown is an equal opportunity employer.
