MachinistThe Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and automated equipment, including lathes and welding systems, to perform machining, welding, and grinding operations on production materials. This role requires interpreting blueprints and specifications to produce components within tight tolerances, while troubleshooting equipment issues and maintaining accurate production and inspection records.Demonstrates company values and shares the organizational commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and a high-performance workforce through positive employee relations.Follows all environmental health and safety (EHS) policies, practices, protocols, and regulations. Proactively addresses any potential EHS issues and reports any unsafe conditions.

Sets a positive example regarding EHS and a safety-first culture.Maintains a clean and orderly (6S) work area and equipment to ensure a safe and productive work environment and quality products.Set up and operate machining and welding equipment, including manual lathes and automated/manual welding systemsPerform machining (turning, boring, threading, drilling, grinding) and welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc, Sub Arc, overlay) to meet production requirementsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to produce components within tight tolerances (up to.001")Select and adjust cutting tools, welding materials, and equipment settings based on material and job requirementsInspect work using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measures) and maintain accurate production and inspection recordsTroubleshoot equipment and process issues, making necessary adjustments to ensure quality and efficiencyOperate material handling equipment (e.g., overhead crane, forklift) and use hand tools safely and effectivelyFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environmentPerforms other responsibilities as assigned and/or as needed to support company objectives.Meets on-site attendance requirements.RequirementsEducation and Experience:1–5 years of experience in machining and/or welding operationsExperience with manual lathe operation preferredExperience with multiple welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Arc) requiredSurface grinding experience preferredASME certification may be required for certain welding applicationsSkills and Competencies:Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawingsAbility to use precision measuring instruments to hold tight tolerancesKnowledge of machining tools, cutting tools, and welding processesAbility to calculate measurements using fractions and decimalsFamiliarity with a variety of materials and their machining/welding requirementsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsUnderstanding of safe tool usage and manufacturing practicesPhysical Requirements:Lift up to 30 lbsPush/Pull up to 25% of the workdayStand up to 100% of the workdayBend/squat up to 25–75% of the workdayPeriodic climbing, stepping, and reaching as required
