The Machinist will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, production, and commissioning teams to rapidly fabricate and modify components in support of a fast-paced shipyard and manufacturing environment.The ideal candidate is highly skilled in manual and CNC machining operations, enjoys solving manufacturing challenges, and thrives in an environment where speed, quality, and innovation are critical to mission success.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate manual and CNC machine tools including mills, lathes, drill presses, and sawsManufacture precision components, fixtures, tooling, and production hardware from engineering drawings and CAD modelsSupport prototype development, production improvements, and rapid design iterationsPerform machining operations on aluminum, stainless steel, composites, plastics, and other materials used in vessel constructionInspect completed components using precision measurement equipment to verify dimensional accuracy and quality requirementsAssist engineers with manufacturability reviews and fabrication planningSupport vessel integration, commissioning, and field operations through rapid fabrication and repair activitiesMaintain machine tooling, workholding equipment, and shop organizationSupport continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing efficiency, quality, and throughputAdhere to all safety, quality, and operational proceduresQualificationsHigh school diploma, GED, technical school certification, or equivalent experience3+ years of machining experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defense, maritime, or industrial environmentsExperience operating manual mills, lathes, and CNC equipmentAbility to read engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and technical documentationProficiency with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gaugesStrong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesComfortable working in manufacturing and shipyard environmentsExperience with CAD/CAM softwareFamiliarity with aluminum vessel construction and marine systemsExperience supporting defense, robotics, aerospace, or autonomous systems programsWelding, fabrication, or assembly experienceTechnical certifications in machining or manufacturing technologies
