MachinistThis position is that of an Machinist, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head MD. This position will be full-time technician, including shift work, and shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements. Technician will work in all explosive and chemical processing areas as determined by management or COR.
Technician shall be subject to physical examinations and certification requirements. Technician MUST be able to support varying shifts including swing and night shifts at the request of management or COR.Key Responsibilities:Perform a variety of duties that include, but not limited to, operation of energetic equipment, operation of energetic transport vehicles, and storage of energetic materialResponsible for inspection of energetic/hazardous materialUnderstanding and utilizing hazardous waste practices for transport and storageMaintain records/track shipments of energetic/materialResponsible for following Standard Operating Procedures for production of energetic/hazardous materialUse of equipment including, but not limited to, forklifts, trucks, and other various lifting equipmentMaintain an accurate inventory of assets utilizing automated information systems and/or paper logbooksAssists fellow departments to streamline flow of materialsFollow written procedures, guidelines, and standard operating proceduresEducation and Experience – Required:High School Diploma or equivalentCNC and manual machining experience requiredCNC Programming strongly desiredU.S. Citizen and valid driver's licenseAbility to obtain and maintain a Secret ClearanceAbility to pass Ammo-18 Certification classAbility to work with automated computer systemsAbility to communicate with all levels of personnel, both military and private industry
