Machinist IIThe Machinist II is a part of the Manufacturing Team and is responsible for the set-up and operation of multiple pieces of equipment including, but not limited to, engine lathes, milling machines, CNC lathe, keyway machine in order to produce the highest quality products to meet customer requirements.Responsibilities include:Operating and processing parts effectively and efficiently according to print and traveler requirementsMonitoring machine performance and utilizationUnderstanding setup and safe operation of multiple pieces of equipment including, but not limited to, engine lathes, milling machines, CNC lathe, keyway machineSafely operating overhead crane, forklift, calipers, grinders, drills, and other hand tools required for the jobDiagnosing machining problems while performing jobs, making modifications as neededChecking quality of product machined and notify supervisor of dimensional issuesPerforming operator maintenance and/or housekeeping per established schedulesAdhering to all JMS safety procedures and regulationsAbility to set up all lathe and milling machines in order to produce parts per print.Ability to diagnose problems in assembly and take corrective actionsOther duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Must possess a minimum of 1 year of machining experience in a manufacturing environmentRequires use of basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment – working with close tolerancesAbility to work safely and efficientlyAbility to work in a team and independentlyStrong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processesKnowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material typesAbility to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs – moving product off table/machine throughout the shiftReliable attendance and ability to work flexible work hours (standard shift 5:00am – 3:30pm, M-Th. (Friday and Saturday OT as required)Desired Experience and Skills:Proficiency with nesting software – preferably ProNestExperience with ERP system – preferably EpicorEducation:High school diploma or GED equivalentJim Myers & Sons, Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer
