Job TitleInstalls, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings | Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligns and fastens machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers | Performs operational tests on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specifications | Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings | Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers)Impact of the RoleAcquires basic skills to perform routine tasks | Develops understanding in an analytical or scientific method or operational process | Works with close supervision | Performs manual tasks according to established proceduresEssential FunctionsAssists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments. | Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. | Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. | Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.Required QualificationsAttending a Vocational / Technical School or internal training program OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education & Experience or Skillset; No prior experience neededPreferred QualificationsVocational/Technical Training Degree | Technical training preferred | Mathematical skills.

Leadership skills.Physical RequirementsRequires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. | Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds. | May need to stand for long periods of time. | Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
