MachinistLocation: Houston, TX 77041 Duration: 06+ Months Pay rate: $25.00/hr – $28.00/hr on W2 without benefits Shift: Monday through Friday, shift starts at 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, some daily overtime and weekend work will be required Summary: This position is responsible for setting up and operating all CNC lathes and CNC mills, to produce products to print specifications. This position also designs fixtures or work holding jigs. Individual contributor.

Regular attendance and punctuality are expected upon accepting this position. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures required including steeled toed shoes, safety glasses and other Personal Protective Equipment that is required in certain areas of the facility. Machines and equipment included, but not limited to, turning lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, and saws for a wide range of differing materialsPlan and performs setups, first article layouts, and execution of work according to product specifications, blueprints, drawings, and work instructionsInspect all materials, components, etc. to assure they meet the accepted quality standardsParticipate in Lean events with active involvement in Continuous Improvement initiativesResponsible for the safe operation of tools and machinery while performing daily tasks.Responsible for the reporting of unsafe acts or conditions to supervision immediately as noticedMust immediately shut down production and report safety or quality concern(s) to a supervisor, engineer, manager, EHS or Quality representativeEnsure accurate movement of inventory through their assigned area – transactions, production reporting, resolution of negatives, etc.Complete required inspection documentation, marking of heat numbers and hold tagsMust employ Oracle to navigate and execute tasks to complete work orders, WIP transactions, material workbench, supply demand, material requirementsPerform daily maintenance check sheetOperate forklift and pallet jack as required for tasksReport unsafe acts or conditions to supervision immediately as noticedControlled metal-cutting and related processingQualified to train othersCan run standard workAssists in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of less experienced machinistDocument training providedComplete and report PR's and ECN reportsPerform first piece quality audits and roving audits as requiredComprehensive understanding of the manufacturing process as it pertains to your respective production cell(s)Move material with motorized equipmentPosition Details:Candidate must reside in: Houston, TX or surrounding areasWork week and shift: M-F 5AM-1:30 PM daily overtime is likely; weekend work may be required occasionalCompensation package offered: $25 - $28 per hourClimate control warehouse, standing workstation, strenuous work often requiredPPE requirements include uniforms, safety glasses and steal toes among others (Most PPE provided, accept initially in contingency the steel toed shoes)Minimum Qualifications including Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):High school diploma or GED5 years of related CNC experience2 years Manual machinist experienceExperience in ERP systemsQualified to operate some machining equipment alone, meets expectations for quality and productivity, can handle some setups and all documentation alonePossess strong organizational skills and attention to detailPossess the ability to work quickly and accuratelyAbility to operate assembly and measuring tools properly and safelyAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsRequires ability to read, speak and write in English, follow verbal and written instructionAbility to read and interpret schematics and Bills of Material (BOM)Ability to use hand tools, power tools and measuring devices such as height gauges, calipers, micrometers, and thread gaugesAbility to understand M-Code and G-Code programmingEffectively use email to communicate (potential) risks to safety, quality, delivery, and productivityMust have a complete understanding of applicable middleware software applications and demonstrate the ability to navigate optionsAbility to use Windchill (Product Data Management application)Ability to use personal computer and/or workstationAbility to meet TAKT Time and quality standardsDemonstrates good interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAll knowledge, skills and abilities required at Machinist I levelAble to work with limited supervisory guidanceMust have a complete understanding of applicable middleware software applications and demonstrate the ability to navigate optionsAbility to use Quality Management SoftwareAbility to interface with inter-departments to meet the goals of the businessExperience training othersAbility to operate and setup most machining equipmentEdit M-Code and G-Code programmingLean and Continuous Improvement experiencePreferred QualificationsOracle ERPMiddlewareCertificationCNC Machining trade school certificateForklift certification
