CNC MachinistCNC machinists work with computer numeric controlled (CNC) heavy machinery from setup to operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic or other materials. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.Essential FunctionsGenerate CNC programs for various customer jobsVerify and record part dimensions and adjust machines accordingly to obtain desired finalized product.Ability to edit programs and adjust for offsets.Proficient at using measurement tools such as calipers, mics and depth gauges.Knowledge of reading blueprints and sketch interpretations to ensure proper fit and finish to partsSkilled at identifying and measuring appropriate surface finishesCreate CNC codes manually and with Esprit SoftwareModify existing programs to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle timesAnalyze drawings to determine cutting tools, machine speeds and feed ratesAbility to work overtime with little or no noticeWork with tooling vendors and engineering dept. to stay up to date on new technologies.Assist other departments as needed.Adhere to all existing processes and procedures to maintain API standardsAssist in identifying causes of non-conforming partsIdentify and adhere to all HSE policies and practices without promptingWorks in a safe manner in compliance with VPC safety processes and procedures.Frequent standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching and liftingMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds.Ability to rework damaged parts work under general supervisionOther duties as assigned by managementRequirementsHigh school diploma or GED.Authorized to work in the USCNC Programming certificateGood working knowledge of machine programing requiredGood working knowledge of machining terminologyGood working knowledge and practice in the use of precision measurement tools.Demonstrated good customer service skills - communication skills, positive interpersonal and problem-solving skills.At least 3 years previous experience.Knowledge of Lean Methods and practice is a plusWork EnvironmentRegular exposure to moving mechanical components, airborne fumes, and particlesExposure to heat, cold, wet and snow conditionsModerate to loud noise levels
