Machinist CNC

Class B MachinistWe're seeking a dependable and skilled Class B Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Los Alamos, NM. The ideal candidate will have hands-on machining experience, a solid understanding of CNC machining practices, and the ability to produce quality parts while following engineering drawings, work instructions, and established manufacturing procedures. This is a great opportunity for a machinist who is comfortable performing routine setups and machining operations with limited supervision and is interested in developing more advanced machining, programming, and troubleshooting skills.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment with limited supervision.Manufacture parts according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and job requirements.Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.Select and install appropriate tooling and make routine machine adjustments.Verify tooling, offsets, and setup information before and during machining operations.Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specified requirements.Use precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.Monitor machining operations and identify issues related to tooling, dimensions, surface finish, or machine performance.Make routine adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.Complete manufacturing and inspection travelers and other required production documentation accurately.Report machining, drawing, tooling, or quality concerns to supervisors or Quality Assurance personnel.Follow established quality, safety, and manufacturing procedures.Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.Work effectively with senior machinists, supervisors, Quality Assurance, and production personnel.QualificationsPrevious experience as a Machinist or CNC Machinist in a manufacturing environment.Experience setting up and operating CNC machining equipment.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.Working knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, and basic tooling selection.Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T requirements.Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.Ability to perform routine machine setups and adjustments with limited supervision.Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.Ability to follow written procedures, work instructions, and job-specific requirements.Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a manufacturing team.Preferred ExperienceExperience with CNC lathesExperience with CNC millsExperience with multi-axis machining equipmentPrecision machining experienceExperience in a controlled manufacturing environment where documentation, traceability, inspection, and customer-specific quality requirements are importantWhat We're Looking For The ideal Class B Machinist has a solid foundation in machining and can independently complete routine setups and machining operations with limited supervision. You should be comfortable reading drawings, using precision measuring equipment, making machining adjustments, and verifying that completed work meets established requirements. This position also offers an opportunity to continue developing more advanced setups, machining techniques, programming, and troubleshooting skills while working alongside experienced machinists.

Compensation $30–$35 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site manufacturing position in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

The role requires hands-on work with machining equipment and close attention to quality, safety, documentation, and production requirements.
