Please review the description below and let us know if you are interested.Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Machine Shop Manager:5–10+ years machining experience with hands-on CNC programming and operation3–5+ years leadership experience in a machine shop or manufacturing environmentStrong expertise in GD&T, blueprint reading, and tight tolerancesProven ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, and programming issuesExperience managing production schedules, workflows, and shop floor operationsResponsibilities of the Machine Shop Manager:Operations & ProductionOversee daily operations of CNC and manual machining departmentsPlan, schedule, and prioritize jobs to meet production deadlines and customer requirementsEnsure efficient machine setup, operation, and uptime (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)Monitor workflow and allocate resources to maintain productivity and delivery targetsCollaborate cross-functionally with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve production challengesLeadership & Team DevelopmentSupervise machinists, programmers, and support staffAssign work, manage performance, and provide ongoing coachingTrain employees on machining processes, safety, and quality standardsSupport recruiting, hiring, and onboarding effortsPromote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvementQuality & Continuous ImprovementEnsure adherence to dimensional tolerances and surface finish requirementsInterpret blueprints, CAD models, and process documentationLead root cause analysis and corrective actions for defects or inefficienciesImplement process improvements, tooling enhancements, and lean initiativesMaintain compliance with quality standards and documentation practicesSafety & ComplianceEnforce workplace safety policies and regulatory compliance (OSHA standards)Identify risks and implement corrective/preventive actionsEnsure proper maintenance, calibration, and safe operation of equipmentEquipment & Resource ManagementOversee preventive maintenance and machine repair schedulesManage tooling, fixtures, and consumables inventoryEvaluate and recommend capital equipment investments to improve capacity and efficiencyRequirements of the Machine Shop Manager:High School Diploma or GEDPreferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related fieldStrong understanding of GD&T, machining tolerances, and blueprint reading.Experience with machining aluminum, steel, and specialty alloys.Ability to troubleshoot machining, programming, and tooling issues.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Experience in a casting/foundry-related machining environment.Knowledge of Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar CAM software.Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.Experience working in ISO-certified environments.Other Key Requirements:100% onsiteManufacturing shop setting with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking materials.Ability to stand, walk, and move between departments for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
