Machine Operators / Saw OperatorMachine Operators / Saw Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of a single-blade saw. Works under immediate supervision; relies on specific instructions and guidelines to complete the job.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesReads production scheduling sheets and identifies required material for the operationEnsures material meets quality specifications (grade, size, moisture content, etc).Performs setups according to specifications.Feeds material according to specifications.Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components/finished product.Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.Completes pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns.Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.Maintains production records as required.Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.Performs LOTO as required.Performs preventive maintenance as specified.Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.Performs other duties as assigned.KnowledgeHigh school diploma/GED preferred but not requiredMinimum 3 months experience using saws or similar equipment; some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.Working knowledge of basic mathMust be at least 18 years of ageSkills and AbilitiesAbility to work in a safe mannerAbility to recognize size/grade/quality of materialDemonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directionsDemonstrate ability to use and operate dangerous/heavy equipmentDemonstrate ability to stack material properlyAbility to pay attention to surroundingsAbility to identify safety issues in their work area, and notice equipment malfunctionsAbility to understand basic verbal and written instructions in EnglishAbility to complete production reportingAbility to read a tape measureAbility to learn/understand cuts and yieldsDemonstrate hand-eye coordinationAbility to work under immediate supervisionAbility to pass a drug testAbility to work hours mandated by managementConductSafety consciousTeam player and goal orientedOpen to change and positive attitudeCommitted to plant and company goalsParticipates in Safety and CI programsPunctual and reliableLooks for ways to improve productivity and department resultsScheduleMonday to Friday, Saturdays as needed6:00am to 2:00pmOvertime may be required, 8 to 10 hour shiftsPay: $17.
