Machine OperatorHiring 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shiftsThis role operates manual and automated saws to cut metal bar, tube, plate, and structural materials according to work orders in a heavy metals manufacturing environment. The position includes setting up and maintaining saws, performing accurate measurements and inspections, handling materials with a forklift, and recording production and quality data. You work closely with production and quality teams to maintain a safe, efficient, and high-quality workflow across multiple shifts.ResponsibilitiesOperate manual and automated saws to cut metal bar, tube, plate, and structural material according to work orders and production schedules.Set up saws by adjusting feeds and speeds and selecting appropriate blades based on material type and job specifications.Monitor cutting operations to ensure accuracy, proper surface finish, and dimensional compliance with required tolerances.Perform in-process and final inspections using go/no-go gauges, tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.Bundle finished material, secure loads, and place bundles on pallets using a forklift and proper material-handling practices.Build pallets as needed to safely store and transport cut materials.Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade changes, lubrication, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting.Record production data, inspection results, and material usage accurately in logs or digital systems.Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment requirements, and safe material-handling protocols.Collaborate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and material handlers to maintain workflow, resolve production issues, and support team goals.Work overtime as needed, typically 5–10 hours per week, to meet production demands.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a heavy industrial metals environment.Essential SkillsProven experience operating forklifts in an industrial or manufacturing environment.Machine operating experience in a production or metals manufacturing setting.Comfort working in a heavy metals environment, including exposure to heat and industrial noise.Basic machining experience, preferably involving saw cutting of metal materials.Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.Proficiency using tape measures, calipers, go/no-go gauges, and other basic measuring tools.Capability to perform routine equipment maintenance such as blade changes, lubrication, and cleaning.Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.Ability to handle material safely using forklifts and other material-handling equipment.Willingness and ability to work assigned shifts and required overtime.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodstock, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
