Job TitleSecond Shift: 3:30pm- 12:00am Hourly Rate: $23.00 Plus 20% Shift Differential Total Rate: $ 27.60 per hourEssential Job FunctionsPlans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces and machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tool attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops and pushers.Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into positionVerifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample work pieces; adhering to international standards.Maintains specifications by observing milling, drilling, grooving and cutting, including turning facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming controls; identifying and sharpening/replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for needed repairs.Maintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.Accomplishes organizational goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Ability to assist and direct the cutting, machining, and configuration of complex block layouts prior to bonding to achieve final dimensional requirements.Adhere to Business Management System requirementsGeneralConducts night time shutdown of machineryMaintains a clean and organized work area and general housekeepingTypical Equipment Used3 or more axis machining centerTurning latheVarious hand toolsTape measures, calipers and other measuring devicesCarts, dollies and other heavy weight moving equipmentOther Duties And ResponsibilitiesAbility to train employees in the routine operation of the CNC in order to function as a back-up and/or additional shift coverage operator.Other related duties and projects as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesHigh school diploma or GED1-3 years of experience in CNC machine operationDemonstrated understanding of tool holders and tool typesDemonstrated understanding of differing feed and speed settingsDemonstrated understanding of tool path following/alternative pathsConceptual skillsBasic math skillsAbility to operate & enter data into standard Windows based computersGood verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detailGood interpersonal skillsAnalytical thinking/problem solvingExcellent organizational skillsAbility to multi-task and be dependable, flexible and adaptable to meet changing or multiple deadlinesAbility to take initiative to identify a problem, obstacle or opportunity and take action within the scope of the position, as authorizedAbility to exercise judgment to solve operational problems where the answer is not apparentMechanical aptitudeProcess understanding on issues relating to mixing ingredients to make productsAbility to operate equipment (mixers, transfer tanks, ovens, saw, planer, lathe, milling, tumbler, dust collector, hand tools, fork lift)Ability to read and understand QC inspection documentationVisual acuity to identify surface quality defects 1/32" and largerWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsMust be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 poundsRegular exposure to noise, dust, high heat and chemicalsRegular exposure to fumes or airborne particlesFrequent reaching with hands and armsConstant standing and use of hands while performing essential functions of the jobWork Authorization/Security ClearanceTo conform to U.S. Government export control regulations and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information restrictions, applicant must be a U.S citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorization from the U.S.
