Learn more about Olympic Steel at iamolympicsteel.com.The Press Brake Operator supports and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives and strives to improve safety, quality, and efficiency in all areas of responsibility, satisfies customer requirements of quality, quantity and delivery in a safe manner, while maximizing productivity, and sets up and/ or operates power-press brake machine to bend, form, or straighten material as specified by work order and customer requirements.Qualifications:Verifies job specification and coil through appropriate computer systemStarts machine and adjust blade and controls using wrenches, rule, gauge or template and monitors operationTests and adjusts cutting speed and action, according to specified length of product using gauges and hand toolsMeasures material and verifies dimensions and weight using micrometer, template, straightedge and scaleInspects material for defectsHand forms, cuts or finishes material using tools such as table saw, hand sledge and anvil, flaring tool and gaugeFollows all safety rules and procedures, reporting all safety concerns immediately to supervisionResponsible for the proper care and use of all tools and equipment in the work centerPerforms quality checks as required and participates in preventative actions where appropriateUnderstands overview of QS-9000 Quality Management System and documents architecture Complies with all ISO procedures for the respective position/workstationReports all maintenance issues to supervision promptlyUnderstands and can explain the company's Quality Policy, job description and required tasks and explain how this position impacts customer satisfaction and contributes to fulfilling Quality PolicyConducts housekeeping for personal work area and shared facility space Maintains a clean and safe working areaParticipates and fulfills the requirements of scheduled training and educational programs as identified for this positionParticipates as requested for independent objective auditing activity and supports continuous improvement activitiesMay perform daily, weekly, and other routine maintenance and housekeeping on machines and equipment in work areaCommunicates effectively with all employees, particularly those in similar production support rolesWorks cooperatively with all warehouse employees to maximize smooth and efficient job continuation across shiftsMay work at different workstations as production needs requireWhy Work for Olympic Steel:Medical, dental, and vision benefitsPaid holidays and vacation401(k) with employer matchTuition reimbursement & Employee Discount ProgramsReferral programEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
