Job TitleFabricatorJob DescriptionFabricates complex metallic and nonmetallic parts, and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machinability of materials, and layout techniques, operating conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers.Position ResponsibilitiesVerifies conformance of processes or work piece to specifications.Assesses specifications, blueprints, sketches, or descriptions to determine machine settings, tolerances, and adjustments.Checks materials prior to processing to assure they meet specifications.Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.Sets up and operates metalworking machine tools, such as a lathe, milling machine, shaper, or grinder, to machine parts to specifications.Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run parts, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.Verifies dimensions with measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.Specific Knowledge, Skills or AbilitiesGood working knowledge of machinist functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentationAbility to read blueprints and other technical drawings and notesEffective time management and organizational skillsPosition QualificationsEducation: HS graduate or equivalent requiredExperience: 1+ years of prior machinist experience preferredExperience in manufacturing or manufacturing quality environment preferredWork Environment and Physical RequirementsManufacturing EnvironmentLift up to 50 lbs. regularlyRequires walking, standing, bending and lifting for long periods of timeVision abilities required to validate and enter data on computerDisclaimer: This list does not represent all physical demands.
