Machine Operator IFull time Americas - North America - United States - Chino - ACD Chino CAJob DescriptionSummary:The Machine Operator is responsible for operating winders, adjusting, and packaging finished goods, conducting quality checks, handling scrap production and assisting in scrap reduction while maintaining safety and quality standards. They are responsible for the direct supervision of production lines.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Oversee all processes, equipment, employees, safety, and housekeeping on assigned lines.Understand and able to operate at least 9 blown lines.Perform regular quality checks and weight checks by reading and verifying work orders and skid plans.Responsible for ensuring scrap goals for the department are met by cutting, separating scrap and refeeding.Assist Maintenance Technicians during breakdowns to minimize downtime.Operate McGuires and process control units, monitor production and adjusting setting settings as neededHandle thread up and startup of machines, including during start up modes.Package finished goods using labels, pallets, and trays to ensure the best cosmetic presentation.Ensure adequate packaging and supplies for the next crew (at least two hours into the next shift).Maintain thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.Assist in Training Packers.Assist in giving breaks to other Packers on the lines.Maintain housekeeping standards in the plant and department.Interpret and adhere to production work orders.Adhere to company policies and procedures.Actively participate in the company's policies, goals and objectives.Communicate with Managers, Supervisors, and co-workers about malfunctions, unsafe work conditions, and equipment problems.Attend scheduled meetings.Wear mandatory Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Be a team player with a positive attitude and work well with others.Possess good written and verbal communication skills.Be dependable and flexible when work is required in other facets of production.Work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.Safety Commitment:Takes reasonable care for their own health and safetyTakes reasonable care for the health and safety of othersAuthorized to stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behavior may result in an unwanted eventUnderstands and actively participates in the company's EHS policy, goals, and objectivesQualifications & Requirements:Requires overall knowledge and experience of extruders, recycling procedures and profiles of resins and their propertiesMust be able to work 12-hour shift including holidays and weekendsMust be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all timesEssential Physical Requirements:The employee in this job is required to exert 50 pounds of force occasionally (less than 1/3 of time); and up to 35 pounds of force frequently (more than 1/3 of the total time); if over 50 lbs, requires a team lift or mechanical aid such as a roll lift or forklift.Must be able to stand for 12 hoursMust be able to bend, twist, and rotate body at all timesReaching with hands and arms for as much as 100% of workdayTalking to communicate with othersHearing to communicate with others and respond to manufacturing and PIT equipment soundsUsing arms to grasp, handle, and typeWalking to operate production machines and to package and palletize finished productWork Environment:This position requires that the employee be able to work:Outdoors 1/3 of the time or lessNear moving mechanical parts Over 2/3 of the timeHigh or precarious places 1/3 of the time or lessNear electrical components 1/3 of the time or lessNear vibrating equipment and tools 1/3 of the time or lessFumes from equipment or airborne particles 1/3 of the time or lessToxic or caustic chemicals 1/3 of the time or lessExtreme heat (non-weather) 1/3 of the time or lessExtreme cold (non-weather) NoneWet or humid conditions (non-weather) 1/3 of the time or lessLoud environments (equipment operation) 1/3 of the time or lessLanguage Skills:Must be able to read and write in EnglishEducation:High School diploma or GED or equivalent, work experience can meet this requirementSalary Range:The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $21.00; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience between $21.00 and $32.50.Our ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
