Machine Operator I (2nd Shift) JobThis is an entry level position under the direction of the Production Supervisor. A Machine Operator I work with frequent guidance from senior personnel within established procedures within the functional area of the metals or felt value stream. Responsible for the safe set up and operation of production machine(s) in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.

Other duties may be assigned.Clocks to and perform transactions in Shop-Trak; providing updates status on projects, material moves, and scrap for all operationsLoad, unload, receive, and store raw materials and suppliesPrepare machines to start a production cycle? performing calibration? cleaning and other activities efficiently IAW quality standards and established safety proceduresUse computer aided manufacturing programs to monitors, controls, and adjusts machine settings while operating machinery and/or equipment, according to specificationsPerform periodic checks on machinery and/or equipment and solve problems as detected, trouble shoot issues that occur during shift, and maintain operator logsCompletes work as required to meet production and schedule requirementsPerforms minor repairs and routine preventative maintenance on machines to include cleaning scrap trays and filtersAssist peers and/or cross train on other machines/equipment as neededWorks with peers to Identify product defects and report necessary nonconformances to Supervisor, and/or Quality InspectorWorks with peers to coordinate movement parts and/or products to the next step operationFollows safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment as requiredMaintains equipment and work areas; cleans and performs basic repairs as neededQualifications to perform this job successfully include mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain machinery effectively, basic arithmetic and computer skills, comfortable using hand tooling and basic measuring equipment, tolerances are key, communication and people skills; team player willing to learn, ability to work in a manufacturing environment (i.e., ability to wear required PPE, work in a dusty, hot, non-climate-controlled environment; with stairs, frequent walking, standing and occasional lifting of material), ability to work off shift hours in support of plant initiatives. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in core production roles within 90 days of hire.

Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred) Knowledge of G-Code (May be required based on position)Physical and mental demands include regularly required to talk or hear, regularly stand, walk, and may sit for extended periods of time, regularly use hand-eye coordination, grasp, manipulate, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions. Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds using mechanical equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and coldEducation and/or Experience Some machine positions may require additional certification or a technical training program.
