Chemical Plant TechnicianThis role involves the efficient operation of a specialty chemicals plant, working with powdered chemicals used in polymer production, plastics, and water treatment. The position focuses on maintaining safety, environmental standards, and operational efficiency, handling utilities, bulk storage, and warehouse operations.Responsibilities:Operate plant machinery and equipment, including opening and closing valves and monitoring instrumentation panels.Report findings from gauges and ensure safe and efficient plant operations.Dump 10-kilo bags or more into containers, utilizing basic math skills to track and monitor plant data.Climb ladders and perform manual duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs.Stay current on operating procedures, emergency protocols, and safety policies.Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.Use forklifts, industrial scales, power tools, and hand tools for maintenance and operations.Troubleshoot minor maintenance defects and perform maintenance on equipment as needed.Essential Skills:Experience in machine operation and process manufacturing.Mechanical and troubleshooting skills with mechanical equipment.Ability to handle chemical mixing, batching, calibration, and blending processes.Familiarity with chemical processing and handling.Capability to perform heavy lifting and general labor tasks.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Previous chemical experience is beneficial but not required.Experience in environments requiring respirators is preferred but not necessary.Strong safety record and reliable attendance history.Work Environment:The work involves exposure to both hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, fluctuating temperatures, dust, noise, and outdoor elements. The plant is multi-leveled, requiring physical fitness to navigate between levels. Shifts rotate every two weeks between first and second, with plans to include a third shift once staffing allows. The schedule will eventually shift to a 12-hour Lego Shift type, rotating days to nights.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
