Machine Operator (2nd Shift Surface Mount Technician)

Job TitleResponsible for the set-up and effective operation of the SMT machine, efficiently manufacturing high quality products.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Set-up and verification of all components for the pick and place machineVerify solder paste operation, load parts, reels trays and sticks to proper feedPerform manual component placement and inspect boards before start-upRead and utilize process documentation including Bill of Materials (BOM) and Assembly DrawingsGeneral machine cleaning, light duty maintenance and upkeep per the Standard Operating ProceduresWork with site engineers and senior leaders to improve and refine processesPerform x-ray inspections on BGA componentsInspecting parts for defects before and after the production process to ensure quality standards are metObserving manufacturing processes to ensure they are running smoothly and efficientlyPerforming quality control checks on products to ensure they meet specificationsAny other similar or associated duties necessary to accomplish job objectives, or as assigned by the immediate supervisor.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.Experience: 1-2 yrs. of experience preferred or transferable knowledge from similar industries.Language and Communication Skills: The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to effectively present information in a one on one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret charts.Reasoning & Problem Solving Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. The ability to troubleshoot issues with machinery and equipment. Ability to identify and resolve safety concernsAttention to Detail: Ability to notice changes and make precise adjustments. Ability to identify defects and price high quality productsMechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand and use mechanical systems. Ability to troubleshoot issues with the machines and make adjustments to ensure they continue to function properly.Teamwork Skills: Ability to work with other team members to complete job duties, identify issues and improve processes.Certifications Required: NoneSupervisory Responsibilities: NonePhysical Demands:The ability to stand 8+ hours a day. The ability to reach and bend. The ability to frequently lift, push, or pull, up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity is required.
