Machine Operator (2nd Shift)This position operates machines completing one or more processes toward the manufacturing of exhaust pipe assemblies and components. Perform as an active team member in supporting and performing all the tasks within a cell group.Job Responsibilities:Perform as a team member of a cellular operating group, which requires the ability to learn, perform preventative maintenance.Set-up and operate machines and to be able to rotate to all workstations within each cell.Employee must be able to handle materials and tools, operate machines, assemble and inspect all product of varying shape, sizes and weights.Perform safety checks and preventative maintenance on each machine to assure machines are in safe working condition and complete daily safety check-off lists.Maintain station control of operations, which includes machine parts to specification, inspect parts to assure the quality standards are met, identify production and quality problems and assist Team Leader with problem correction.Overtime as required/requested. Follow machine repair procedures if breakdown occurs.

Complete basic repairs and adjustments of minor problems. Report all machine problems to Team Leader an/or Maintenance.Perform SPC, visual and gauge inspection, and complete charts and required forms. Clean the machine and surrounding work area.

Operate machines as assigned to assist co-workers at other workstations as needed. Perform or assist in part changeovers. Assist in 5S advancement Assist in implementation of Lean principles.Job Requirements:Education: High School Diploma or GEDExperience: No previous experience requiredAbility to read and understand work orders, machine manuals, directions, charts and safety regulations.Mechanical aptitude to operate machines and the ability to perform basic preventative maintenance and minor repairsBasic math skillsAbility to follow directions and flexibility to respond to problems and changes in job assignments.Ability to work well with othersAbility to learn and perform all jobs in assigned Cell group and rotates to each workstation as neededKnowledge of the building process and construction principles.Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.Physical Demands:Flexibility to work long hours and other work schedules as neededAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Extensive standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending over, reaching, twisting, arm wrist and hand motion, Manual dexterityGood visual abilityFrequent skin exposure to chemical – based fluids such as coolant, drawing compounds, lubricating oils, etcMental Requirements:Adaptability to perform work in multiple departments or cells as trained, or schedules as needed.Basic communication, teamwork, and effective interaction with supervisors & co-workersDecision-making and problem-solving in a fast-paced work environment, including making timely choices within workflow constraints and understanding when to escalate.Independent task completion – ability to complete work independently without constant supervision or direction.Work Environment:This job is performed on the production plant floor and may be assigned to any machinesVarying temperatures (cold to hot)Infrequent exposure to outside weather environmentFast – paced work environmentSmall, confined space around some machines/equipmentWet, slippery floors in some areasOther Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
