Machine Operator - 1st Shift

Machine Operator IAt The Stow Company, Machine Operators are a key part of our dynamic and growing team! The Machine Operator I position is an entry level position responsible for operating wood processing equipment such as drills, glue sprayers, vinyl presses, and other equipment as needed. Manufacturing background is required, and experience with machines and semi-automated equipment is a plus.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Read work orders and select the appropriate program to run each individual partLoad and unload partsComplete required quality checksMeet quoted completion timesPerform basic trouble-shooting for machine issuesPerform tooling changeovers (saw blades, drill bits, etc.)Set up machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycleControl and adjust machine settings (e.g.

speed)Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machinesInspect parts with precision using measuring toolsTest operation of machines periodicallyFix issues that might occur during the shiftCheck output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flawsKeep records of approved and defective units or final productsMaintain activity logsLives Company values on a daily basis.Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of themselves, of others, or to property. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.Basic Qualifications:Education & Experience:High School Diploma or GED a plusKnowledge / Skills/Abilities:Strong mechanical skills and an aptitude for hands-on workWorking knowledge of CNC machines and operation, point-to-point machines, edge banders, and/or saws within the wood manufacturing arena is desiredDemonstrates a strong attention to detailMeets productivity, quality, and safety goalsFollows directions and completes paperwork correctly and neatlyWilling to learn new skills and train in all areas of the work cellBe willing and able to follow all company policiesActively participates in all team meetings and eventsInterpersonal skills in order to work effectively with individuals both internally and externally to The Stow CompanyMust have excellent customer service skills; including strong written and verbal communication skillsMust have the ability to interface and communicate with all levels of personnel in an office and a manufacturing environmentAbility to take the initiative and work well independently with little supervision, and as part of a teamPhysical Requirements & Work Environment:Must be able to lift, push and pull product weighing up to 50 pounds multiple times a dayAble to bend, twist and stand for up to 12 hoursAble to tolerate an environment where sawdust particles are presentAble to communicate in an environment with a medium to high level of ambient noiseThis position requires some kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching and stretching as well as handling boards of varying sizes.Standing and walking approximately 100 percent of work timeAbility to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short noticeEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
