Job Title: Machine Design Engineer

Location: Wheeling, IL 60090 (100% Onsite)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Salary: $75,000–$90,000 annually

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop custom machinery, mechanical equipment, tooling, and fixtures based on customer specifications.
• Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, detailed drawings, and manufacturing prints.
• Ensure proper mechanical fit, tolerances, functionality, and manufacturability of designs.
• Work closely with shop floor personnel to troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues.
• Support mechanical design projects from initial concept through production.
• Design individual components as well as complete mechanical assemblies and systems.
• Provide technical engineering support to internal teams and customers.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing designs, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing efficiency.
• Develop an understanding of company product lines and manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
• At least 5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, or automated systems.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and detailed mechanical drawings.
• Experience with CAM programming and CNC programming.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining capabilities, fabrication processes, and manufacturing methods.
• Ability to design mechanical components, tooling, fixtures, and assemblies.
• Comfortable working directly with production and shop floor personnel.
