Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our healthcare team at a Correctional Facility. The LVN will provide direct nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or physician while ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care in a secure correctional environment.
Responsibilities
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
Perform nursing assessments and monitor patient health status.
Record vital signs and document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
Assist with patient intake, transfers, and discharge processes.
Perform wound care, dressing changes, specimen collection, and other nursing procedures within the LVN scope of practice.
Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid as needed.
Monitor patients with chronic illnesses, mental health conditions, and infectious diseases.
Collaborate with physicians, Registered Nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare staff to develop and implement patient care plans.
Maintain infection prevention and safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with correctional facility policies, HIPAA, and state nursing regulations.
Provide health education and support to patients.
Minimum Qualifications
Active California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License.
Minimum of 12 continuous months of LVN experience within the last 3 years.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment.
Excellent assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous correctional healthcare experience.
IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certification.
Experience in acute care, medical-surgical, psychiatric, emergency, or skilled nursing settings.
Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR).
