Senior Riser EngineerThe Senior Riser Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Riser discipline within our client's company. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Riser discipline. The Senior Riser Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services.
The Senior Riser Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Riser team and other related teams and ensures they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:Perform conceptual FEED, Studies, and detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on more complex and demanding engineering tasksApply knowledge and skills to complete varied assignmentsPrepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and proceduresPrioritize and organize own work to meet deadlinesFocus on completing work within budgetsClearly communicate and explain information in straightforward engineering activitiesFocused on health and safety policies and proceduresBe fully familiar with the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issuesIdentify changes to scope and promptly raise change notifications, including providing any necessary supporting documentation and estimatesProvide similar support for Variation OrdersInterface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designsInterface with other departments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawingsMaintain close coordination with other engineering disciplines, Planning, Fabrication, and Project Management Team, as requiredDocument substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copies to the Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline ManagerAssist in the preparation of estimates for bid proposals, including technical query reviews, execution statements, and manhour estimatesRaise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and maintain preferred company procedures, specifications, standards, practices, and operational requirementsPrepare Discipline engineering design basis, philosophies, and technical specifications, as requiredParticipate in finalizing deliverables lists and deliverables, ensuring compliance with specifications and functional integrityAttend project review meetings, vendor meetings, engineering meetings, and offshore site surveys, as requiredProvide technical direction and review of Designers producing products related to Instrumentation & Controls EngineeringPrepare and review design reports and proceduresAssist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them to proceed with their deliverablesAssist procurement personnel in procuring Discipline equipment, materials, and services; ensuring that work produced complies with Customer objectives and procedures, including preparing and reviewing requisitions, evaluating technical quotations and preparing queries, compiling bid tabulations and recommendations, preparing purchase requisitions, and coordinating with Procurement to expedite vendor documents, as directed by Discipline Lead EngineerAssist in updating weight report based on receipt of vendor informationCheck engineering performed by others within the DisciplineReview vendor and subcontractor submittals, checking for compliance with project specifications and providing comments as necessaryPerform design verification through single-discipline check / inter-discipline check (IDC)Provide technical support to all fabrication queries, including identifying defect/rectification requirementsKeep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities and concerns, technical, budgetary and manpower relatedAssist in providing inputs for actual, planning, and forecasting progress reports including associated productivityCheck final subcontractor and vendor data manuals to ensure that all requested data has been received and approvedParticipate in internal, Customer, and third-party technical audits on engineering deliverables and vendor documentsAssist Lead Engineer with responses to Customer and other agencies (such as certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, etc.) on their review and approvalCapture lessons learned and enter into our client's Lessons Learned systemAct as a resource for colleagues with less experienceGuide less experienced engineers on our client company's Discipline procedures, standards, worksheets, design calculations, software, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, technical queries, etc.Be aware of costs related to own work and of the disciplineProvides engineering support as requiredAssists in the preparation of subcontract documentsKeep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concernsDevelop an awareness of costs related to own workDevelop a basic understanding of our client's business and the customers it servesDevelop basic knowledge of our client's business units and interactions including engineering, fabrication, and marine functionsDevelop advanced skills in the use of standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointParticipate in Riser design review and verificationsBuild riser analysis models and check models created by others for analysis asunder supervision such as:Fatigue AnalysisStrength AnalysisInstallation AnalysisClashing AnalysisPlatform design calculation and analysis and check engineering performed by others such as:Wall thickness designComponent designConfiguration designParticipate in riser design reviews and verificationsQualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:8-15 years of experience in oil and gas preferably in offshore facilitiesBachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineering (Masters is a preference)Strong working knowledge of many design techniques and analysis methods.
