Job Summary:
The School Lunch Aide and Recess Supervisor is responsible for assisting students during lunch periods and ensuring a safe and positive environment during recess. This role involves supervising students, promoting positive behavior, maintaining cleanliness in the cafeteria, and ensuring safety during outdoor and indoor recess. The position requires strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to manage groups of children effectively.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Assists students during lunch periods, including open containers, helping with trays, and ensuring they follow the expectations for behavior in the cafeteria.
  • Addresses minor student conficts and reports any serious issues to the principal or the assistant principal.
  • Supervises students during outdoor and indoor recess, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Monitors playground and equipment, reporting any safery hazards or concerns to the principal or assistant principal.
  • Intervenes in minor disputes and encourages inclusive and respectful play during recess.
  • Responds to accidents or injuries, notifying the appropriate school personnel if medical attention is needed.
  • Engages students positively, fostering a fun and safe environment.
  • Attends work regulalry and is punctual.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Experience working with children in a school, daycare, or recreational setting perferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the developmental stages of children.
  • Ability to supervise groups of students during their lunch and recess periods.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all children.
  • Ability to remain calm and handle conflicts effectively.
  • Ability to work as a team member and collaborate with others.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with staff, students, etc. in English, however, bilingual (Spanish) candidates are desirable.
Working Conditions:
  • Work Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m depending on the assigned school.
  • 10-15 hours per week as assigned.
Salary:
  • $15.00 per hour
