Job Overview

Essentia Health is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse or Certified Medical Assistant to serve in our family practice at Baxter Clinic. The position works 7:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with one weekday off. No weekend, holiday, or on‑call rotations are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN, physicians, and other providers and provide direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting.
• Perform identified procedures for which competencies have been demonstrated.
• Care for patients ranging from newborn to elderly.
• Perform routine assessments (vital signs, patient histories, symptom observation).
• Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures.
• Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Assist in coordinating follow‑up appointments and referrals.
• Conduct initial patient intake processes (medical histories, personal information, prepare for examination).

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Minnesota.
• Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant, or verifiable completion of a Medical Assistant Program; must become certified within one year, passing within two attempts.
• AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 3 months of hire.
• Education required for licensure.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $21.72 – $32.58.
