Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice.
  • Perform clinical procedures including specimen collection, EKGs, wound care, dressing changes, and point-of-care testing.
  • Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Monitor patient conditions and report changes or concerns to the provider.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, prescription refills, and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment according to infection control and safety standards.
  • Follow clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and infection prevention protocols.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies within the clinic setting.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings as required.
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, families, providers, and staff.
Non-Essential Duties
  • Assist with orientation and training of new clinical staff.
  • Support front office operations during periods of high patient volume.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards applicable to outpatient care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of infection control, safety procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software.
  • Understanding of clinical procedures and medication administration protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of South Carolina.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience preferred; outpatient or ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.

  • Visual acuity sufficient to read medical records, medication labels, and computer screens.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials consistent with a healthcare environment.
Work Environment
  • Outpatient medical clinic environment with frequent patient interaction.
