As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will deliver direct patient care by applying the nursing process and demonstrating clinical competence aligned with professional nursing standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to maintain a secure care environment.
  • Administer medications, perform nursing interventions, and educate patients and families to promote health and recovery.
  • Operate within the Practical Nurse Scope of Practice and organizational policies to ensure quality outcomes and patient safety.
  • Conduct ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance care quality, and provide accurate updates to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate closely with supervising RNs or shift managers to meet patient needs effectively.
  • Document all care activities and quality monitoring data to support clinical decisions and compliance with standards.
  • Communicate patient information promptly to physicians and team members to improve outcomes.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately while fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Engage with patients and families to enhance their experience and provide education supporting positive health outcomes.
  • Apply critical thinking in nursing practice and pursue continuing education to develop skills and knowledge.
Education
Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program is required.
Experience
One year of practical nursing experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Certification and Licensure
  • Current LPN license valid in the state or through Compact Licensure.
  • Graduate Practical Nurses (GPN) must obtain licensure within 90 days of graduation.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, stooping, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
