Responsibilities

The Department of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking board-eligible/board-certified optometrists to join our established academic practice. The positions involve clinical care of patients including comprehensive eye care and complete ocular health assessments in collaboration with physicians and technicians. Specific interests in Low Vision/Brain Rehabilitation is preferred. Candidates should be residency-trained and willing to participate in the department’s academic activities. The department has 40 members who cover all subspecialty areas of ophthalmology, providing services for more than 80,000 patients per year.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board-eligible or board-certified Optometrist
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Low Vision preferred
  • Commitment to clinical excellence in comprehensive and low vision care
  • Interest in academic medicine, including participation in teaching, research, and departmental scholarly activities
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Minnesota

Compensation Detail

The minimum starting salary for PhD/Doctoral/Other specialties may range from $136,643 to $280,250. This range reflects full-time total base compensation prior to consideration of additional experience or duties. Pay for the selected candidate will vary based on specialty, experience, FTE, internal equity, or external market data.
