Position Summary
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic individual to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Preschool Paraprofessional. This position supports preschool students and staff in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher to support student learning, social-emotional development, and daily classroom routines. The position also provides support for Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) programming.

Position Summary
Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and energetic individual to serve as a Long-Term Substitute Preschool Paraprofessional. This position supports preschool students and staff in creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher to support student learning, social-emotional development, and daily classroom routines. The position also provides support for Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) programming.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the preschool teacher with daily classroom activities and instruction.
- Support individual students and small groups during learning activities, play, and transitions.
- Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, and during other school activities.
- Assist students with personal care needs, including toileting and hygiene as needed.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain classroom materials and learning centers.
- Support positive behavior and social-emotional development.
- Assist with ECFE programming and activities as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or principal
- Comfortable assisting students with toileting and personal care needs.
- Ability to frequently sit on the floor, kneel, bend, lift, and transition on and off the floor while actively engaging with young children throughout the day.
- Complete at least two years of higher education at an accredited institution, hold an Associate's Degree or higher, or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
When ECFE is in session:
- Monday: 8:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
- Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
- Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- $21.75/hour for SY
