We are seeking a Locums Psychiatry Physician for a long-term, part-timeopportunity providing psychiatric care to developmentally disabled patientswith co-occurring mental health disorders. This position is ideal for acompassionate psychiatrist who enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team anddiverse patient population.
Position Highlights
- Approximately 16 hours per week, with some flexibility
- In-person office-based position — no remote option
- Long-term opportunity due to the departure of a current provider
- Compensation: $ $220 - $230 per hour,depending on experience
- Approximately 6–10 patients per 7.5-hour day, depending on newevaluations and follow-ups
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental statusexaminations
- Diagnose and provide ongoing medication management
- Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances
- Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration withclinical staff
- Treat adult and pediatric patients with developmental disabilitiesand co-occurring mental health conditions
- Common diagnoses include anxiety, depression, intermittent explosivedisorder, disruptive mood disorder, OCD, schizoaffective disorder, andbipolar disorder
- Review labs, diagnostic studies, and consultations as appropriate
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, clinicians, casemanagers, and other members of the care team
- Provide education and support to families and caregivers
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement and case review activities asneeded
- Complete legal or court-related documentation when required,including a small number of JV-220 cases
Requirements
- Active California Medical License
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Adult and/or Child Psychiatryby the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Board certification strongly preferred; Board Eligible candidateswill be considered
- Board certification must be obtained within 5 years of residency
- Must be comfortable treating pediatric patients
- Eligible for Medicare and Medi-Cal certification
- Authorized to prescribe controlled substances
- Flu vaccination required, or approved medical/religious exemption
- COVID-19 vaccination required, or approved medical/religiousexemption
- Ability to document hours through the required timekeeping platform
