Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

We are seeking a Board-CertifiedEmergency Medicine Physician for a locums opportunity inPasadena, TX. This position provides coverage in a busy Emergency Departmentwith nocall responsibilities and standard ED shifts.

Schedule & Setting

• Schedule: StandardEmergency Department shifts
• Call: None
• ED Treatment Spaces: Approximately30 at the main ED
• Patient Volume: Approximately115 patients/day at the main ED; 70 patients/day at the FSED
• Trauma Level: Level III
• Patient Population: Urban,middle-class
• Acuity: Moderate tohigh acuity with complex pathology
• Physiciansat the main ED primarily manage moderate- to high-acuity patients ratherthan low-acuity cases.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate,diagnose, and treat emergency department patients.
• Managemoderate- to high-acuity and complex emergency presentations.
• Performcommon emergency procedures, including:
  • Intubation
  • Centralline placement
  • Chesttube placement
  • Conscioussedation
  • Fracturereduction
  • Lacerationrepair
• Performother standard emergency medicine procedures as clinically indicated.
• Coordinatecare with consultants and inpatient services.
• Determineappropriate disposition, including admission, transfer, or discharge.
• Providetimely and accurate clinical documentation.

Patient Volume & Resources

• Main ED: Approximately115 patients/day
• FSED: Approximately70 patients/day
• Admission Rate: Approximately25% at the main ED and 5% at the FSED
• Specialtyconsultation is available consistent with a Level III Trauma Center.
• OBservices available.
• In-houseintensivist and hospitalist services available.

Requirements

• MDor DO.
• ABEM certification required.
• ActiveTexas medical license or eligibility to obtain one.
