Operations Support Specialist (Night Shift)
Pay Rate: $18.31/hr on W2 Location: 540 W MADISON ST., Chicago, IL Contract Duration: 12 months Shift: Friday Night – Tuesday Night | 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM Overtime: Required as business needs dictate
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Operations Support Specialist to join our banking operations team. In this role, you will support the processing of consumer, commercial, and wholesale banking transactions by ensuring documents and payments are accurately processed, scanned, and maintained according to established procedures. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment, and a commitment to maintaining quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process banking transactions in accordance with documented procedures and departmental guidelines.
- Perform high-volume document scanning and imaging of customer documents received through U.S. mail, overnight delivery, and courier services.
- Operate and perform routine maintenance on Opex scanning equipment.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate equipment issues or error messages as needed.
- Extract and classify documents while recognizing various transaction and document types, including correspondence, payment documents, express envelopes, and high-volume transactions.
- Process cash, credit card payments, foreign items, and other banking transactions accurately.
- Identify transaction exceptions and ensure appropriate handling and escalation.
- Maintain document retention procedures and complete required recordkeeping processes.
- Reconcile transactions and ensure compliance with internal operational controls and banking standards.
- Support internal business partners by providing accurate, timely, and efficient transaction processing.
- Maintain productivity and quality standards while working in a continuous, high-volume production environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in banking operations, payment processing, document processing, mailroom operations, or production support preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and maintain accuracy.
- Ability to follow written procedures and process transactions consistently.
- Comfortable operating high-speed scanning and imaging equipment.
- Quick learner who can adapt to changing priorities and processes.
- Receptive to coaching and feedback with a willingness to continuously improve.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate multiple systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
