Litigation Counsel – UHS
UHS is seeking a Litigation Counsel to support general litigation, including affirmative litigation, and corporate liability matters for the UHS Corporate Legal Department.
Schedule: This role has a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days flex-remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Litigation Management – Oversee and manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement discussions
- Managed Care Litigation – Assess potential managed care claims for underpayment or denial of payment by insurance companies and work closely with outside counsel in all phases of such litigation
- Corporate Liability Litigation – Oversee and manage all aspects of the defense of the corporate parent and administrative services company in connection with professional liability and insured litigation.
- Strategic Counsel – Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and the impact of litigation on business operations
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with internal teams such as compliance, operations, and risk management to develop litigation strategies that align with business objectives
- External Counsel Management – Manage relationships with outside counsel, ensuring efficient and cost-effective handling of legal matters
Qualifications
- Law degree with 3–5 years’ experience in commercial litigation.
- Experience with the healthcare industry or with medical providers preferred, but not required.
- Must be admitted into the state bar or have in‑house counsel license.
